When shipping to Trinidad or Tobago, there is some paperwork that you will need in advance. Documents required for international shipping to Trinidad include:

  • Work Permit (non-resident)
  • Customs Bond
  • Inventory of your goods (written in English)
  • Cash Deposit
  • Import License
  • Proof of overseas residence for minimum one year

Please note, also, that you are expected to be present at the time of customs clearance. You can ship used household goods to Tobago and Trinidad duty-free as long as you have owned the goods for at least one year. You may be required to show receipts and other documentation that provides proof of length of ownership.

When sea shipping to Tobago or shipping to Trinidad, it is expected that your cargo shipment will arrive within two months of your own arrival in the region. All cargo shipments entering the country are fully inspected at the Container Examination Station. There is also a 10% special tax applicable to returning nationals that qualify.

You may be expected to pay duty fees on new items that you are shipping that are less than one year old.
